BOB's Newsletter -  High School MInistry

MOVING FORWARD with the "Dream Team"

Parents, this newsletter is going to be short & sweet in hopes that you’ll notice every detail of God’s goodness to Four Oaks Student Ministries.

First of all, I encourage you to go to youngfoaks.com & click on “Listen Up” to hear various students give thanksgiving to God for what He is doing in their lives through this local church.

Second, our church is growing as is our student ministry. We have more committed students to BOB than ever.

And we are preparing to move forward so as to care for & help you in discipling your children.

We have a significant need to really grow in the area of leadership development. As more committed students come through the doors so does more pain, more struggle, more adolescent-associated trauma. And I want to do a better job of equipping our leaders and, down the line, equipping parents on the frontlines of counseling hurting teenagers with & towards the gospel. In order to get out there and assemble & implement a system of leadership training , I need help. I need to give up something else. I need further administrative help & I need someone to assist me in equipping female leaders in one-on-one settings.

God has provided such help. Aided (but not determined) by monies provided by a family during the Mission Expansion Project, we are able to re-hire Christina White as our Girls Ministry Director starting in January 2009.

I realize this may be seem abrupt or strange to some, as Christina was let go in May. However, God gave Christina the grace to continue to serve in Student Ministries on a volunteer basis & then He provided a way for her to serve full-time in this local body. With Rob & Christina now on board, I feel like I truly have THE Dream Team (see above)!!

With eager expectation,

Ryan Oelschlager

Pray For Us

High School

1. A Praise for God’s use of small groups as an integral part of our Wed. Night Large Group. Wow, He has really blessed that time when students can really grapple with applying God’s Word to life! He has done more than we could ask or imagine with this strategic move.

2. For an sustained fervor for Christ in the hearts of students as we head into the Spring semester.  “Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord” (Romans 12:11).

Middle School

1. For an sustained fervor for Christ in the hearts of students as we head into the Spring semester.  “Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord” (Romans 12:11).

2. Praise God for his provision of volunteer adult leaders.  This semester has been an incredible time of growth and strengthening for this ministry.  This would not have been possible without the incredible dedication and sacrifice of our adult leaders.
